Victories, Podiums and Best Laps
At the third Grand Prix Karting FFSA of the season, at Essay, Sodi chassis proved their excellent qualities in all occasions. Indeed, they obtained very good results in all the categories (KF2, KF3 and KZ2). Sodi pilots felt comfortable with the SR5 model more than ever, so much so that many of them fought for a podium, or even for victory.

KZ2: victory for Varutti, podium for Abbasse

The Sodi chassis won again in one of the 125cc gearbox categories. After Anthony Abbasse at Lyon, it was Alban Varutti’s turn to emerge at Essay. On Saturday, he finished well placed in the pre-final and then won his final. “The chassis was particularly well-balanced, therefore I could easily control the race”, Alban commented enthusiastically. On Sunday, Varutti celebrated again, when he climbed from 19th to 2nd position after some mishaps in the pre-final. Anthony Abbasse came in line with the positive performance of the Sodi group by conquering the third step of the podium. “During the day we had to mount slick tyres at first and then we switched to rain tyres” Anthony said. “In both cases, the chassis proved to be perfectly suitable for all weather conditions. Indeed, I was 2nd in timed practice as well as in the pre-final in dry weather conditions, then 3rd on a damp track. I still have all my Championship chances!”

KF2: Reguillon’s Superb Ride

In KF2, Sodi is always the best represented brand in the pack. And at the end of the last final of the round, it was also the best represented on the podium! Paul-Loup Chatin (Kart Runner) and Loïc Reguillon (Braun Racing) really exploited the full potential of their chassis. “Starting from Friday’s free practice, the chassis proved to be extremely reliable at Essay, Loïc confirmed. “In the final, my start was not that good, but then I set a series of very fast laps. I also scored the record of the lap while I was trying to reach the leader. Another lap and I would have won!” After a pole position in the morning, Chatin constantly improved his position in the leading group and reached the third step of the podium with his Sodi SR5, although last year he was still in the National category. The previous day, the chassis effectiveness had already been confirmed by the best lap in the final, set by Alban Authié (Eurokarting Team).

KF3: 4th position for Carel, best lap for Easthope

Despite his little experience in this category, Tanguy Carel fought hard to conquer the best positions with his Sodi, a chassis that is always very competitive in KF3. Not very lucky on Saturday, when he scored a superb fourth time, he took his revenge on Sunday, when he climbed to 4th position. The podium was never that far for this pilot, who last year was still in the Cadet category. In this final, the fastest was a Sodi pilot, British Henry Easthope, happy to mount on a podium that crowned his excellent performance.
