Everything is ready for the launch of the French Karting Championship, season 2010. The FFSA has honoured its commitments to make the Grand Prix Open Karting in Varennes sur Allier a major event in the calendar. The list of announced participants is absolutely convincing, with almost 160 entered drivers in the four categories. The KZ2 and “Nationale” categories currently count the highest number of registered drivers, but the KF2 and KF3 are no less successful.

The best French teams will battle over the weekend on the exciting circuit of Varennes, which will also see good international participation. Stimulated by the forthcoming European Championship, , KZ2 will start off strong for the first GPO of the year. Jérémy Iglesias (Intrepid/TM), European KZ1 vice champion and Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM) French KZ2 vice champion, will be the international stars, but they will have to watch out for a few specialists such as Yan Pesce (Energy/TM), Yannick Savard (CRG/Maxter), Pierre Ragues (Sodi/TM) as well as Simone Brenna (TBkart/TM), the Italian driver currently second in the European Championship standings.

Newly created by the FFSA, the “Nationale” category of the French Championship already stirs a craze. Numerous drivers have been seduced by 2010 innovative ideas. All these elements contributed to attract a group of over 70 drivers.

Thomas Lemoult (Birel) will try and transform his 2009 Cup into a 2010 champion title, though he will find on his way some die-hard rivals named Alexandre Anstett (Tony Kart), William Westerloppe (Mirage), Jules Afonso (Tony Kart) and Swiss Colin Schumacher (Birel). Mention can also be made of Félix Sandin (Kosmic), Alexis Leguay (Energy), Lucas Exbrayat (PCR), just a few of a long list of rivals with maybe some surprises in store.

In KF2, there could be a fight at the top between Sébastien Bailly (Sodi/Parilla), current holder of the title, Pascal Belmaaziz (Intrepid/TM), who won the title in KF3 last year, Clément Bluy (Tony Kart/Vortex), the experienced one, Vincent Fraïsse (Intrepid/TM), the sure value, and Pierre-Henri Nanot (FA Kart/Vortex) who returned to competition after a long absence. Attention should also be paid to the enthusiasm of the young ones, such as Alex Baron (Sodi/Parilla), Victor Sendin (Tony Kart/Vortex), Jeoffrey Rouchy (Tony Kart/Vortex), John Fillipi (Tony Kart/Vortex), Swiss Jimmy Antunès (Intrepid/TM), Belgian Denis Dupont (Tony Kart/Vortex) from Daem’s Racing and American Andrcik Zeen (Sodi/Parilla).

As in KF2, several KF3 drivers will be the GPOs with all the experience gathered during the international races (WSK, CIK) held at the beginning of the season. Pierre Gasly (Sodi/Parilla) and Anthoine Hubert (Tony Kart/Vortex) could be the men to beat for a hunting pack led by Rémy Deguffroy (Tony Kart/Vortex), Charles Leclerc (Maranello/Maranello), Valentin Moineault (Merlin/Parilla) as well as Léo Roussel (Sodi/Parilla). Girls will be well represented too, with Lucille Cypriano (FA Kart/Vortex), Ingrid Girard (Intrepid/Vortex) and Erine Ferrari (Tony Kart/Vortex).
