Talent, Achievements and a Promising Future

Twice French karting champion at a very young age, Esteban Ocon has been supported since 2009 by Gravity Sport Management, whose mission is, among other things, to contribute to promoting young talents in motor sports. After a very encouraging debut season in the difficult KF3 category, where he concluded with a 7th place in the World Cup and joined the French team, Esteban Ocon has some more ambitious goals for 2011. His regular presence in the top positions and his victory at the opening round of the WSK Euro Series show that this talented driver from Rosny 93 Club has the potential to have a great season…

An Early Talent
Despite his young age (14 years and a half), Esteban Ocon can boast a long list of achievements. Ile de France champion in Mini Kart the year of his 8th birthday, he made quite an impression by winning the six races of the French Minime Championship in 2007. Never seen before! He repeated his excellent performances on his debut in the Cadet category the following year, with the second title of French champion in a row. On his first real international season in 2010, he obtained some good results in KF3: 2nd at the prestigious Andrea Margutti Trophy in Italy, 3rd at the European Championship qualifying round, 7th at the World Cup and winner of the French Cup held at the rise of the curtain of the World Championship.

Karting is a discipline well known for its narrow time gaps, which are usually within a few hundreds of a second in the lead pack, so the choice of a team is never easy for a driver. In 2011, Gravity Sport Management and Esteban Ocon have decided to place their confidence in a Spanish team, Genikart. Managed by Marco Genis, the team represents officially FA Kart, a make that bears the initials of famous F1 driver Fernando Alonso. Esteban will be equipped with Vortex engines and his mission will be to learn how to work within a professional team and to get the most out of his kart.

Victory Paves the Way to Further Successes
After his winter training was slightly disrupted by his costal pains, which made Esteban aware of the strong physical stress caused by high level sport, the driver from Gravity Academy won the first meeting of the WSK Euro Series held in Sarno in March. He put up a faultless performance in the final, in the rain, and preceded the favourite Max Verstappen. Two weeks later, he reached first the third and then the second step of the podium during the first two races of the French Championship, where he is now leader of the general standings.
He continued with a great performance at the South European Trophy in Varennes-sur-Allier: in addition to winning his ticket for the final phase of the European Championship in Spain, in July, he also conquered a fantastic second place. But Esteban knows that nothing can be taken for granted in this highly competitive sport and that it is still a long way to the top.
