Serial success at the WSK Super Master Series

In Cremona, Birel ART lived up to its reputation by winning the WSK Super Master Series KZ2 Championship thanks to Cristian Bertuca. Matteo Viganò, the driver from the Leclerc by Lennox Racing team, won the Final, Bertuca accompanied him on the third step of the podium, five Birel ART / TM finished in the top 10 and Freddie Slater, holder of the pole position, followed in 11th place. To top it all off, the FIA International Karting Ranking places three Birel ART Racing drivers in the top three positions in KZ2 – Bertuca, Vasile and Slater.

The conclusion of the WSK Super Master Series took place last weekend at the Cremona circuit. The battle was superb in KZ2 with the “Red Passion” dominating. Sunday was a memorable day for Birel ART Racing and Leclerc by Lennox Racing. To add to the success, Gerasim Skulanov and Noah Wolfe put in convincing performances in OK-Junior in their fight for the top 10.

“It was a great confirmation of Birel ART’s potential in KZ2”, pointed out Riccardo Longhi, Team Manager Birel ART Racing. “Freddie Slater proved once again his speed by taking pole position in Qualifying. Delayed by a DNS in the first heat, he made impressive comebacks in the Prefinal and final to take 9th place in the Final. Cristian Bertuca followed a solid run in the top five before finishing in P3 and winning the championship. It was a pleasure for us to see Matteo Viganò’s victorious comeback in the Final. Giuseppe Palomba and Alessio Piccini were 6th and 7th, Daniel Vasile was 11th, before their hopes were dashed in the Final. Nevertheless, the overall performance of the Birel ART / TM karts was exceptional.

“Gerasim Skulanov showed pleasing determination in OK-Junior, despite a difficult first heat. He came 2nd in his Prefinal and finished 12th in the Final. Kit Belofski’s progress was not rewarded in the Final where he started 11th, two places behind Noah Wolfe of the Leclerc by Lennox Racing team. However, these performances mark a very significant evolution of our potential in this category”.

The Birel ART Racing team will now set off to learn about the Trinec track in the Czech Republic next weekend for the Champions of the Future Euro Series, a preparatory event for the FIA Karting European Championship – OK & OK-Junior, the second round of which will take place at the same circuit two weeks later.
