Race after race, Sami Luka continues to strengthen his position in the KF2 category as a credible candidate to victory. The Belgian driver supported by Brussels Expo has already raced in three major international meetings this season and each time he has brilliantly defended the colours of the DR Racing Kart Team at top level.

Sami Is Thirsty for Victory

The 2009 karting season has started on a high gear for the best international drivers like Sami Luka: 1st WSK (Winning Series Karting) round at La Conca on 8 February, Winter Cup at Lonato on 22 February and 2nd WSK round at Sarno on 8 March. Italy has therefore been in the spotlight on this karting season debut, which saw Sami Luka’s first steps with his new team.

“Last year, I had the opportunity to work with Danilo Rossi in the CRG Team and when I was told that he was going to launch his own chassis brand, I decided to be with him in this new challenge” Sami commented. “He was a great driver in the 90s, he won the World Championship five times and now he is a great professional. I like well-done things and I trust his ability to lead his team to victory”.

Sami Luka likes to act fast, so it did not take him long to reach the lead pack with his DR chassis equipped with a Maxter engine. “At La Conca, I finished three heats out of four in the top 3 and I thought I could achieve a good result in the final phase, but unfortunately I had a mechanical problem. Then, at Lonato, we were once again very competitive and I had a great semi-final: I was very fast and I went up from 11th to 2nd place. In the final, I found myself in third place, but just when I was reaching the second, the power valve jammed”. In those conditions, maintaining the 7th place was a great result for Sami Luka, a fighter who never gives up.

Then, in early March, near Naples, this driver from Brussels Expo offered the DR chassis its first two victories in the qualifying heats. The talented Belgian driver could therefore start from the first row in the pre-final, which he brilliantly finished with a second place and 15 points in the ranking of this very difficult WSK series. “Together with the team, we decided to change a kart parameter to try to win the final. Unfortunately, we achieved the opposite effect and I had to fight against the pack. Then I was forced in the grass on the last lap and I finished 13th, with some regrets. However, I am very satisfied with this promising season debut. I would like to thank the DR Team and Maxter for the quality of its equipment and I am sure that we will soon achieve concrete results. As far as I am concerned, I am really looking forward to winning again and I am determined to do everything I can to gain a victory soon”.

“Sami has done some really nice races this season and has exploited the potential of his equipment at best. He has brought the colours of DR on the front line in KF2 and I think we are at the beginning of an excellent collaboration”, his team manager Danilo Rossi concluded.
