KF3 French Cup at Val d’Argenton

France has the honour of hosting the final round of the first World Karting Championship reserved to under 18 years old (U18), a brand new concept introduced by the CIK-FIA. Young drivers from all over the world will gather at Val d’Argenton for an event where a level-playing field is guaranteed for all competitors and that will crown the best of them, on 2 and 3 October, in front of thousands of motor sports fans. The FFSA, which organises the event, has decided to offer junior drivers from the KF3 international category the chance to enter a prestigious event beside the World Championship, the French Cup.

A World Championship remains an important event, whose prestige has positive effects on the organising country as a whole, as proven by the success of the Angerville round in 2006. This year, Val d’Argenton will host the best drivers of world karting at the “U18” (under 18) Championship, a new World Championship created by the CIK-FIA. With even greater international scope and a more open and balanced approach thanks to the fact that the same engines and tyres are provided to all drivers, this event – which is also more affordable because costs are rigorously limited – is based on a revolutionary concept that aims at refocusing karting competition on talent and at allowing new talents to emerge. The U18 World Championship made its debut last 24 and 25 July in Germany (Wackersdorf), will continued in Spain (Alcaniz) on 28 and 29 August before concluding in France, at Val d’Argenton, on 2 and 3 October.

In parallel to this Championship, the CIK-FIA also organises the Academy Trophy for 13 to 15 year-old youngsters, with a driver selected for each of the 34 attending countries. Young Anthoine Hubert will be the French representative at this event, where karts are totally identical for all participants and are assigned by random draw. Just like in U18, all competitors take part in an educational programme unique in its genre, called EduKart. Subjects dealt with include safety, technical-sports rules and regulations, the spirit of fair play, a history of karting, doping controls, environmental problems, etc.

The CIK-FIA did not skimp on the means to ensure U18 the success it deserves. Unprecedented communication efforts have been put in place and TV coverage is granted by Eurosport, to provide major exposure beyond the usual circles of karting fans.

In charge of organisation at Val d’Argenton, the FFSA has decided to make every possible effort to be equal to the task of this World Championship. With a full range of promotional packages, it proposes innovative solutions to ensure visibility to partners and stakeholders. Ad presence, VIP welcome and services (reserved places in the gallery, catering services, access to the motorhome, transfers, etc.) for the weekend or the day: everything has been cared for to meet the expectations of companies and people attending the event.

In order to enhance the sporting prestige of the event, the FFSA has also organised a race for KF3 drivers, who are usually too young to enter the U18 World Championship. Thanks to the infrastructure and media presence put in place for the occasion, the French Cup can offer a high-value event, in conformity with international standards: CIK regulations, Dunlop DDH tyres, Panta fuel, … everything is there to guarantee the success of an event that offers drivers a unique opportunity to show their talent at the end of the season, after the European Championship and the World Cup, on a prestigious circuit that will become part of the international calendar in the years to come. The French Cup is an open race recognised by the CIK, which can be entered by all drivers holding an international «C» karting license.
