Nearly 180 drivers from 21 nationalities took the start at the Iame International Final, where Sodi chassis, which proved to be competitive both with and without gearbox, took two superb victories. At Lyon, Thierry Delré made the right moves to win on a X30 Shifter, while Jules Gounon proved to be the strongest, in the toughest and most crowded class of the meeting, X30 Senior, with 88 entrants! Gounon won four heats out of four in qualifying, as well as the pre-final, and he did not miss a beat in the final, clocking the fastest lap time in the race and taking the chequered flag as the winner.

The last few weeks have been very successful for the Sodi brand. KF, KZ, Endurance, Rotax and this time X30… the French chassis confirmed their very high level of performance, regardless of the class and of the type of tyres mounted! The X30 Cup is a one-design formula as far as engines are concerned and the quality of chassis can make the difference. On the very technical circuit of Actua Lyon Kart Métropole, the many drivers equipped by Sodi were particularly brilliant. The Australian driver Kip Foster opened hostilities by taking pole position in the X30 Master. Then, this very hard driver won two heats, was second in the pre-final and remained in the lead for several laps; unfortunately he was forced to withdraw, with great disappointment!

In X30 Shifter, Thierry Delré went it all alone in the final behind the wheel of his Sodi. After the titles he conquered at the Challenge Europa X30, at the Belgian Championship and at the Asaf Championship, the Belgian driver proved he was still in top form and shook off all his pursuers. In the meanwhile, Florian Latorre (also on a Sodi) set the fastest lap time in the race during his remarkable recovery from 12th to 4th place!

But the absolute dominator of the weekend was Jules Gounon, who remained solidly in the first place in his four heats, in the pre-final as well as in the final. At the end of a top level race with drivers of many different nationalities and all major chassis brands, Gounon paid tribute to his chassis when he came down the top step of the podium. “A victory in a world class competition, with nearly 90 entrants, is fantastic, and I know I owe a lot to the Ludo Racing team for their perfect work as well as to Sodi for the effectiveness of its Celesta chassis. My kart was great, from the first to the last lap, and the fastest lap time I set in the race just confirms it”.

The French constructor’s season is far from over and Sodi is ready to move on to its next challenge…
