Fly Kart on the Podium Again
After a brilliant European campaign, the Fly Kart Team added another success to its long list of successes, in Germany. On the Kerpen circuit, dear to Michaël Schumacher, drivers had another chance to show the effectiveness of the partnership with Energy. At the Von Trips Memorial, young drivers Joel Johansson in KF2 and Stepan Karasev in KF3 conquered a podium, just as expected.

Every year, the Graf Berghe Von Trips Memorial is one of the most important end-of-season races in Germany. As usual, the Fly Kart Team prepared for the event with a very professional attitude, in cooperation with its partner Energy. Under the colours of prestigious brands Iveco and Petronas, Swedish Joel Johansson and Russian Stephan Karasev climbed on a podium at Kerpen, thereby adding another success to the incredible series of results achieved by Energy.

While Mans Grenhagen ran to victory at the wheel of his Energy-TM, Karasev literally flew during the race. With a 20-place recovery, the Russian driver finished his ride on the third step of the podium. “It was a bit of a crazy final, but it all ended well thanks to the work of the whole team”, said the Russian driver. With the second and fifth places achieved by Energy-VKR karts driven by Lucas Wolf and Kevin Kästner, there were four Energy chassis in the KF3 top 5, proving again the competitiveness of the Italian equipment.

After a fantastic 2008 season in KF2, Joel Johansson managed to turn a difficult situation to his advantage. “I was not very lucky during qualifying, although I felt that with my Energy-TM I could score a good result”, said the Swedish driver. Luckily, the final phases were less difficult for Johansson. He was 9th in the pre-final, then second in the final! “It’s great to be back on the podium”, Joel exclaimed. Always in the lead positions in Kerpen, Energy chassis monopolised the places of honour, with the 4th place by Sven Müller, the son of an Energy importer in Germany, and the 5th place by Michele di Martino.

“Technically speaking, once again Michele Panigada did a great job together with the whole team. Our drivers had some excellent equipment throughout the competition. It was a difficult race, because several German drivers were determined to conquer this race, so we are very happy to leave Germany with two more podiums. During the whole 2008 season, Fly Kart and Energy conveyed a very positive image and achieved excellent results, something very important for our current and future partners”.
