Energy’s Good Habit for the Podium
Always very successful in the European KZ2 Championship, the Energy Corse Team immediately achieved an excellent result on the La Conca track, in Southern Italy. Jack Hawksworth fought it out with the leaders for two days, while Paolo De Conto conquered another podium after a spectacular catching up. The new Eclipse chassis has been up to expectations…

Energy's Good Habit for the Podium

At the new European Championship debut, Energy was one of the four best represented brands in the final phase. Jack Hawksworth, Kenneth J. Ostvold and Paolo De Conto, the three drivers running for Energy Corse, all overcame the difficult hurdle of the qualifiers. And Dutch driver Kevin Leijtens also showed a good performance and joined the group of 34 finalists, out of a total of 102 participants.
After recently winning the Trofeo Andrea Margutti, Hawksworth finished his five heats in the top 3, with at least three best laps in race! On Sunday afternoon, he continued his effort in the leading pack and finished with a nice 4th place in Race 1. Thought well determined to improve his result in the second heat, he suffered an accident during the race. “I was pushed out of my trajectory and lost several places”, the very competitive British driver regretted. “Pity, because the effectiveness of my Energy chassis grew lap after lap and I thought a positive performance was within my reach”.
But within the Energy-Fly Kart structure, there is always someone who can take the lead and this time it was Paolo De Conto’s turn to defend Energy’s colours. The Italian driver was one of the most sensational drivers of the weekend. “Paolo was still racing in KF2 in 2008 but he has very quickly felt comfortable in the new category, with the equipment we had prepared for him”, stressed his team manager Michaël Panigada. “He immediately won three qualifying heats, but was not equally successful in two other heats, so he only started from 26th place in the first final”.
Thanks to a very high and constant pace, the Italian driver climbed to 11th place in Race 1 and was third in Race 2. “It was great to conquer a podium at my first European KZ2 Championship”, Paolo commented. “The Energy Eclipse chassis and TM engines prepared by Rizzi have really proved to be highly performing!”
As for Kenneth J. Ostvold, he was happy to win a qualifying heat and to finish in the top 10 in Race 1. An excellent overall result…

Michele Panigada’s viewpoint, team manager of Energy

“We had a number of competitive drivers; this proves that the work we did at Muro Leccese was rigorous and effective. With Paolo De Conto and Jack Hawksworth, the Energy chassis has proved it has the potential to fight for the title of European champion. This year, the championship has just four races, instead of the six of the previous years. So drivers cannot make mistakes, but we are going to do our best to defend our title next June, at Wackersdorf (Germany)”.

Welcome Alice

The Energy Corse Team is pleased to announce the arrival of Alice, a baby girl born on Wednesday 15 April, a few days before the debut of the European Championship! Congratulations to her mother, Barbara Panigada! The Team wishes them all the best..
