CRG on the Front Row

Given that the WSK is assuming an ever growing importance in the world of international karting, CRG was keen on proving, once again, the competitiveness of its products at the third round of this series, held on 4 and 5 April on the Italian track of Castelletto di Branduzzo.

In addition to the many drivers who chose a CRG chassis in KF2 and KF3, the Italian brand was represented by at least six drivers in the Super KF category. And they all had excellent chances of achieving good results, explained Arnaud Kozlinski. “At each race, we demonstrate that the work done on the new 2009 chassis has clearly headed in the right direction. The atmosphere within the structure is excellent and everybody gives 100% to make things work. It is very stimulating”.

In the official qualifiers, Jonathan Thonon and Arnaud Kozlinski reached the Super Pole, which gathers the ten fastest drivers in timed session. Kozlinski confirmed his competitiveness by winning the first qualifying race, but was forced to withdraw in the following one. Finally it was Jonathan Thonon who proved to be most effective, all heats considered. “Leading my CRG-Maxter to the pole position in the final was a fantastic reward for the team” said the Belgian driver. “Unfortunately, my start was not good. I was hit and lost several places”.

Meanwhile, Kozlinski and Davide Forè made a great spectacle in the pack with their fantastic catch up. “I lost several places in the collision at the start, too, but then the race became thrilling and I managed to overtake many competitors, lap after lap”, Davide commented. “As for race leaders, I had a reference point and I realised that I got closer to them at each lap”. Though the “Men in Black” regretted they could not join the chasing pack earlier, the Frenchman and the Italian really made an impression for the 5th and 6th place they achieved, respectively, as well as for the second best lap in race for “Koko”, who is second in the WSK provisional ranking. The rest of the season looks very promising for CRG drivers…

Two New Podiums for Maxter

Drivers of different nationalities, equipped with different chassis brands, have chosen Maxter as their engine, and at the end of the day an observation is imperative: performances have been once again excellent for the Italian brand in the three WSK categories. Aaro Vainio (Maranello) reached the Super Pole in Super KF with his Maxter, Jonathan Thonon (CRG) took the ranking lead at the end of the heats, while Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG) and Davide Fore (CRG) conquered over 15 places each. The final (40 km overall) saw Vainio conquer the second step of the podium.
In KF2, Michal Fousek (Maranello), Stoffel Van Doorne (CRG) and Sami Luka (DR) were in the leading pack, thereby proving the competitiveness and reliability of Maxter engines in this category, which is widespread in many countries. As for the KF3 category, where a battle raged between young drivers, Jordan King (Maranello-Maxter) was the fastest in the final. “Two drivers had an accident in front of me and I lost some time. I even managed to reach the leaders, but I would have needed a few more laps to take my chance for victory”, declared the British driver, who finished third.
