Beitske Visser: A Girl Takes On the Challenge

The big revelation of season debut comes from Holland by the name of Beitske Visser. She has just celebrated her 15th birthday, but she is constantly in the limelight of international karting at the highest level. However, she did not follow the ‘easy’ path when she decided to race in the KZ2 category, with powerful 125cc gearbox engines. But her determination and talent have already catapulted her to the top and to the podium.

Karting is a sport where girls race together with boys. Girls are a minority, but that does not mean that they just have ‘walk-on parts’! Beitske proves it: “On track, I do not think much about the fact that I am a girl. My goal is to win, so I have to beat all the other drivers, whoever they are”. Her fighting spirit is second only to her speed on track.

Her international season started on 7 March, at the WSK Euro Series round held in Southern Italy. Then, she raced at the Andrea Margutti in Castelletto di Branduzzo, against many KZ2 specialists. In timed qualifying, she staged an extraordinary performance by reaching the pole position. “Unfortunately, I had to abandon the final race and that spoiled my weekend”, she regretted. But Beitske Visser did not brood over her disappointment for long and went to the second meeting of the WSK Euro Series with her motivation increased tenfold.

With a very fast part preceding a much more technical part with several tight bends, the Italian circuit of Lonato really highlights the value of drivers. As confirmed by her team, Beitske is always equal to the task. “Karting is a difficult sport because drivers are often wheel-to-wheel and you always have to fight hard to gain some places and avoid losing ground. Even in hard-fought competition, Beitske does not feel the pressure and always tries to be at the front. She has no fear to overtake when she has a chance to and her times on track are both fast and constant. Outside of races, she also practices sport and fitness to improve physically. She has a very positive attitude”.

Thanks to her constant progress in the qualifying phase, she achieved a first result by ranking third in the KZ2 pre-final. After posting the best lap time, she did not content with that result and also conquered a place in the final race! “In Holland, in Belgium or at the Rotax Winter Cup, I have already had a chance to climb on the podium. But to do it again at this level, well, it is even more rewarding. I am very happy with this second place and I would like to thank the Intrepid official team and Tec’Sav for the work done so far. It is very encouraging for the future”.
