Beitske and Her American Dream

After Portugal, the WSK World Series moved to the United States of America, on the international karting circuit of Millville (New Jersey). Once more, Beitske Visser proved to be just as good as the best drivers in KZ2. At the wheel of her Intrepid, equipped with TMs provided by the Tec-Sav team, the young Dutch girl concluded with a flattering 5th place despite a few problems during the race.

For her first participation to a World Series with the FIA stamp, Beitske Visser crossed the Atlantic for the second of the three rounds of the prestigious WSK World Series, held South-West of New York. Well determined to forget her disappointment after the previous meeting in Portimao, she showed her capacity to adapt to new circuits by setting immediately the 4th best time in timed qualifying. Only the top specialists of the category did better than her: multiple world champions Jonathan Thonon and Marco Ardigo, as well as vice European Champion Rick Dreezen.

KSP_111_7800.jpgBeitske knows she lacks a bit of experience, but her speed on track is only equalled by her determination. She provided plenty of evidence of that by reaching third place twice, once ahead of Ardigo and a second time ahead of American Carlton and Dreezen. “I really gave my maximum, though I felt I could still improve my equipment to earn a few tenths of a sec.“, Visser analysed.

Indeed, in the pre-final, she even managed to lower her times below the one-minute threshold. Unfortunately she lost a few places at the start and began an extraordinary catch-up race to carve her way up to 6th. “My goal was clearly a podium at the end of the final, but my kart was not as effective as before. Track conditions changed, with a different grip in comparison to the pre-final. Tyres were not as effective as I hoped. But at least I managed to keep Polish driver Fuchs behind me and finished 5th“.

With drivers of the calibre of Thonon, Carlton, Dreezen and Ardigo preceding her, Beitske Visser has nothing to be ashamed of after her performance. She also took a major step forward in the championship from 13th to 7th place. As for the second part of the season, she can still nourish high hopes, with several chances to continue her progress and show she has what it takes to succeed. Now more than ever, she is one of the most promising girls in the world of car sports.
