Another Double Victory for CRG and Maxter
One of the first teams to race in WSK when this one was created in 2006, CRG conquered some more victories in this international series, which the final held near Saragossa (Spain).

In KZ2, Rick Dreezen and Jonathan Thonon constantly monopolised the first two ranks during qualifying, the heats and the final phase! The double winner of the World Cup conquered the pre-final, but Dreezen did better in the final and flew to victory with the best lap in race. The easiness with which these two drivers conquered a new double success proved the top level of CRG chassis performances.

This same competitiveness was seen in KF1, with Arnaud Kozlinski’s second place, after he came very close to winning. “I took the lead on the last lap, but my immediate pursuer pushed me out of the right trajectory soon afterwards and took advantage of that to overcome me on the next bend”, Arnaud said. “Pity, because I had experienced the same situation at Mariembourg. The points I lost did not allow me to win the WSK, but the most important thing was to show that we were in a position to fight for victory at each major round of the 2008 season”. Thanks to the points scored by Kozlinski, CRG reached second place in Eurocup KF1 (team ranking), just like in KZ2. This last round of the WSK was certainly marked by the excellent performances shown in KF2 by Sami Luka and Andrea Dale, who finished 3rd in the pre-final and 5th in the final respectively. In KF3, Clemente Picariello staged a superb recovery up to 4th place with his VDK Team CRG.

Plenty of podiums for Maxter

Increasingly present in all categories, the powerful Maxter engines fought for a podium and even for victory in each final phase, thanks to the Twin Torpedo (KF) and MX (KZ) models. Just as they did during the European Championship, Rick Dreezen and Jonathan Thonon did not let anyone come close to the first two places in KZ2. This time, it was the 2008 German Champion who defeated the World Cup winner! Dreezen conquered the second position in the final WSK ranking and Thonon was third.

“My compliments to Tec’Sav, which greatly contributed to this double victory”, said Nico Carigiet, one of Maxter engineers. “The WSK final also confirmed the substantial progress made by Maxter in all KF categories. Clemente Picariello, 4th in the final and best lap in the pre-final, and Aaro Vainio were brilliant in KF3, and so were James Thorp, Sami Luka and Andrea Dale in KF2. Thorp (Maranello) won two heats and finished 2nd in the pre-final, ahead of Luka, but bent the back shaft in a collision. He was 5th in the WSK ranking, but without that accident, the title of vice champion would have been his. As for Arnaud Kozlinski, he showed an impressive performance during the super final that lasted for at least 35 km. He missed victory by a narrow margin, but his second place at just 1/100th of a second from the winner allowed him to reach second place in the WSK overall ranking”.
