A Reputation to Defend
Historically, the CRG chassis has always been a reference point in KZ categories (125cc w/gearbox), so much so that many private teams and drivers have chosen it every year, regardless of their competition level. This is exactly what has happened at the first round of the European KZ2 Championship, held in Italy on the La Conca track (Muro Leccese).

A Reputation to Defend

This category certainly provides an excellent overview of the market situation, with its 102 participants and the many brands involved. In this context, six drivers led their CRG karts to the final, thereby making the Italian manufacturer the best represented brand at this level.
Leonardo Fuoco led his CRG-TM to the pole at the end of timed practice, then Luca Tilloca demonstrated his high competitiveness in the course of the race. Four times second and once first in the heats, Tilloca conquered the second internal row of the start grid in Race 1. Twenty laps later, he crossed the arrival line in third place. “Frankly, if they had told me I would conquer a podium in the European Championship, I would have not believed it”, Luca declared. “My CRG-Maxter proved to be very competitive. I set the best lap time, so I think maybe I could have even done better”.
With greater self-confidence, Italian driver Tilloca took advantage of Race 2 to aim at victory. The CRG driver surprised Piccoli from the very start and attacked the leader. But in the final, as soon as he took the lead, just after mid-race, he had a mechanical problem and had to withdraw, with great disappointment! In the end, Yard Pex was the best of the drivers who raced with a CRG chassis. The Dutch driver from CRG-Holland Team is now 7th in the Championship ranking, thanks to two top-10s in a row.

Maxter Just Missed Victory

After the series of victories gained by Jonathan Thonon in 2008, Maxter MX came very close to a new success, on the European KZ2 Championship debut. After a brilliant performance in the first final, where he was third, Luca Tilloca outclassed all his rivals in the second final, but had to withdraw with only five laps to go. “It was a pity for the whole team, because they had done a lot of work to prepare a very competitive kart for me. Being at the lead of such a hard-fought final will be a great memory for me, anyway, and it is very encouraging for the future”, commented the Italian driver, who chose Tec’Sav as motor engine mechanic.
“Maxter objective is manufacturing high-performance engines for all its customers and the La Conca round has confirmed that trend once again”, continued Nico Carigiet, Marketing Manager of the Italian Team. “This weekend I was again very pleased to see Maxter competitiveness in its Super KF version”.
In this race, marked by the absence of the main factory teams, Aaro Vainio (Maranello-Maxter) conquered a heat and finished 4th in Race 1. As for the Maddox Team, the Maxter engines it adopted allowed Richard Bradley to be 5th in Race 2 and Florian Alfano to be a candidate to the podium until he had to withdraw, following a collision.
