With drivers such as experienced Manuel Renaudie or young Dylan Davies, AVG Racing Team had an excellent season in 2010 and kept demonstrating that it is definitely one of the most capable structures of the paddock. A worthy representative of the prestigious PCR make, Anton Van Grunsven’s team is back in the field for season 2011 with the intention of getting to the very heart of the matter in the WSK series (Master and Euro), with as many as four drivers in KZ and one in KF in Sarno.

Getting ready for major events organised by the International Federation under the best conditions, while trying to achieve the best possible results: this was the goal pursued by AVG Racing at the first two meetings of the season in Italy. With a level which is even higher than last year in all international categories, it proved to be a hard task for the drivers of the Dutch team.
We knew that the first events of 2011 would be difficult, but it was important for us to be at La Conca and than in Sarno to allow our drivers to do as many km as possible. We all needed to be back in the middle of competition”, pointed out Anton Van Grunsven, the team manager. “Manuel Renaudie has decided to quit racing, but now we can rely on another French driver, Tony Lavanant, who won the European KZ2 Championship in 2008. But Tony has not raced a lot during the last two years and he has to get back on track. Dylan Davies will also be with us, as in 2010. It is just his second year in KZ2 and he still has a lot to show. Sinan Van der Raad is also part of our team now. He has raced in KF for several seasons and now he has taken on a new challenge by entering KZ1. The fourth driver with us in Italy was the young Roy Geerts. He lacks international experience, but he is determined to improve rapidly“.
If the first round of the WSK Euro Series in Sarno did not lead to the expected results for team members, they all had a race full of lessons to be learnt at La Conca during the WSK Master Series. Saturday’s final ended with a 5th place in KZ1 for Tony Lavanant, three places ahead his team mate Sinan Van der Raad. In the KZ2 pack, Dylan Davies showed a brilliant recovery. After the setbacks he experienced in timed qualifying, he concluded with a brilliant 4th place in his category, while Roy Geerts was 7th. In full progression, the latter was even 6th in Sunday’s KZ2 final race. As for Lavanant, he was 7th in KZ1.

Programme for KF and KZ

With AVG Racing team, PCR company knows it can rely on a team perfectly structured to enhance the visibility of the Italian brand in Europe. In addition to the know-how of its mechanics, AVG team also has its own pool of high performance engines. “We work closely with the TM make, which allows us to continuously improve from an engine point of view. It was indeed with the engines prepared in our workshops that the team was crowned European champion in 2007“, Anton Van Grunsven pointed out. One thing to be stressed is that AVG Racing also has KF drivers, such as Dutch young driver Maijn Kremers, hired by AVG in KF3 for the WSK Euro Series in Sarno.
