RMCIT: Denmark’s Nielsen takes Senior pole at Le Mans

It took three heats to decide between the 108 Senior drivers in the Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy at Le Mans on Thursday 18th July 2024. The track was dry and the thermometer read 20°.

Group 1: Nielsen – 52‘’941
It was on his fourth and final lap that Knud Nielsen (DNK – Tony Kart/Rotax) set the fastest time of the first session with 52‘’941, relegating Ethan Jeff-Hall (GBR – Exprit/Rotax) and Hugo Martiniello (FRA – Kosmic/Rotax) to 99 thousandths. Macauley Bishop (GBR – LN/Rotax) was 4th at 0.118‘’ and Jayden Thien (NLD – LN/Rotax) at 0.128‘’.

Group 2: Lemeray – 52‘’952
On his third lap, Nolan Lemeray (FRA – EOS/Rotax) set the fastest time in Group 2, with a clear advantage of 0.175‘’ over Arthur Robin (FRA – Gillard/Rotax). Serre Urben (BEL – Exprit/Rotax) finished 3rd, 3 tenths ahead of Tom Billout (FRA – Tony Kart/Rotax) and Simon Perigny (FRA – Tony Kart/Rotax).

Group 3: Gilbert – 53‘’042
Medhi Lassoued (FRA – Sodi/Rotax) was the fastest with his fourth lap in 53’041, but he was disqualified for being too light. Lewis Gilbert (GBR – Tony Kart/Rotax), who had finished just a thousandth off the pace, was back in P1 ahead of Mateja Radenkovic (BEL – Tony Kart/Rotax) at 88 thousandths, Matthew Higgins (GBR – LN/Rotax) was 3rd, Paul Grisel (FRA – Kosmic/Rotax) 4th at 2 tenths and Hugo Brun (FRA – Redspeed/Rotax) 5th.
