Champions of the Future: Pesl sets the fastest OK time at Slovakia Ring

For the 74 OK drivers taking part in the Champions of the Future Euro Series at the Slovakia Ring, the serious business began on Friday lunchtime with the three timed sessions, although the rain stopped in the first session before returning at times to shake up the order.

Group 1: Monteiro – 50‘’070
Eliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/TM) started ahead of the others and led the first three laps, but the pace changed behind him with Lewis Francis (KR/Iame) and Noah Monteiro (KR/Iame) neck and neck. Monteiro finished in the lead with a fourth lap time of 50’070 and a lead of 0.137 over Francis. Kai Rillaerts (Sodi/TM) followed in 3rd place ahead of Oleksander Bondarev (KR/Iame) and Leo Nilsson (KR/Iame). Vivek Kanthan (Parolin/TM) was 6th, Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) 13th and Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) 15th.

Group 2: Pesl – 49‘’960
A few drops of rain prevented the track from drying out. Jindrich Pesl was fastest on the second lap, followed by Taym Saleh (KR/Iame). Andrea Dupé (KR/Iame) was 2nd on his return to competition. David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) led on lap 4 ahead of Dupé. Pesl finished with the fastest time – 49‘’960 – on his sixth lap. Scott Lindblom (KR/Iame) was 2nd, 3.5 tenths behind Dupé in 3rd. Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) was 4th and Cosma Cristofor 5th. Tom Dussol (CRG/Iame) was 11th, Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame) 13th and Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) 15th.

Group 3: Morgatto – 52‘’203
Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM) was at the top of the timesheets, followed by Eliska Babickova (KR/Iame) and Freddie Lloyd (LN/TM) on lap 3, before rain prevented any improvement. Morgatto posted a time of 52’203, 8 tenths ahead of Babickova and 1.2 seconds ahead of Lloyd. Blake Nash (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 4th ahead of Murilo Da Rocha (KR/Iame). Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) finished 6th, Joe Turney (KR/Iame) 7th, Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) 8th, Jimmy Hélias (KR/Iame) 9th, then Miguel Costa (Parolin/TM) 11th and Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) 13th.
