Angelina Proenca, 14, is contesting her first season in the French Junior Karting Championship.

“I’m delighted to have achieved pole position,” said the young driver from the Pyrénées Orientales region. “I was preceded by Doriane Pin, who won the first Junior Women’s pole on the same Le Mans circuit in 2018. I worked hard to get there, because pure speed isn’t enough. I managed my timed session so that I was in a good position when I needed to be. I was well briefed by Rodolphe Besnard, the FFSA Academy coach, and I found the slipstream I needed to make the difference on the last lap, and it worked!

“Unfortunately, the weekend didn’t end quite as well. When I was 5th in the Final and it was starting to rain, a driver lost control in a corner and hit me. I couldn’t start again, I was very disappointed…“.

Known for her speed since her earliest days in the Minime and Cadet categories, Angelina progressed to international X30 Junior competition during the 2023 season with convincing results. She was lucky enough to be spotted and to join Alpine’s Rac(H)er programme last year.

“I really like the one-design formula set up by the FFSA Academy. As well as the fact that all the participants have the same equipment, priority is given to training. I’ve had the chance to work on data before, so I’m happy to be able to continue this year with the FFSA Academy’s professional coaches, and I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank my mechanic Sacha Constant. I’ll soon be learning the circuit for the next round at Mirecourt, where I’m hoping to get a good result thanks to my ability to adapt to the new tracks.”
