Ramaekers and Drummond win the OK Super Heats

The sun had chased away the morning mist at Val d’Argenton and the temperature was gradually rising for the OK Super Heats of Round 2 of the Champions of the Future Euro Series.

Super Heat 1: Ramaekers wins ahead of Wherrell
Matteo Giaccardi (Exprit/TM) got off to an excellent start and was ahead of Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) on the first lap, followed by Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) and Jindrich Pesl (CRG/TM). The latter immediately attacked for P3 with Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) in his wake, relegating Ramaekers to 5th place. Wherrell and Ramekers then overtook Pesl. Noah Monteiro (KR/Iame) had moved up seven places to 6th, Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) was 18th (+9 places) and Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame) 23rd (+10 places). Gomez regained the lead on lap 5, Wherrell moved up to 2nd and Ramaekers 3rd ahead of Giaccardi. Behind Aaron Garcia (KR/Iame) in 6th, Luna Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame) set the fastest time of the day. Ramaekers was back in 2nd place, passing Wherrell in a very tight trio. Ramaekers and Wherrell attacked Gomez on the 11th lap. Khavalkin gave up. Ramaekers extended his lead with a faster time. Gomez did his utmost to control Garcia, who was becoming more and more of a threat. Ramaekers won the race 9 tenths ahead of Wherrell, Gomez held P3 from Garcia, Monteiro was 5th followed by Fluxa and Hanna. David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) struggled to finish in the top 10. Iglesias had moved up 16 places to 17th.

Super Heat 2: Drummond takes a fine victory
While Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) remained in the lead on the first lap, Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM) immediately moved up to 2nd followed by Joe Turney (KR/Iame). Noah Wolfe (Birel ART/TM) was 4th and Jimmy Hélias (KR/Iame) 5th. Fionn Mclaughlin was 5th and Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) 6th ahead of Davide Bottaro (CRG/Iame). Hélias retired and Lewis Francis (KR/Iame) had lost 16 places. Drummond was still leading at a very good pace against Morgatto and Turney. Morgatto gradually closed the gap on Drummond after the halfway point. The gaps between the chasing pack were increasing. Drummond seemed to have the necessary resources to control Morgatto, while Turney in turn came back on the leading duo. Drummond took a fine victory 1.2″ ahead of Morgatto, who was only 1 tenth behind Turney. Wolfe secured an excellent 4th place ahead of Bondarev. Markas Silkunas (CRG/Iame) finished in 6th place after a strong comeback of 12 places. Miguel Costa (Parolin/TM) did the same to finish 9th. Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) was 15th, Tom Dussol (CRG/Iame) 16th, but Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/Vortex) did not finish.
