OK-Junior – Super Heat A: Schaufler wins ahead of Iliffe

It was overcast in Valencia at 17° for Super Round A of the OK-Junior European Championship Round 1, the race was finally underway after two extra formation laps. Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) got off to a good start ahead of Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame), Borys Lyzen (Sodi/TM), Jack Iliffe (Parolin/TM) and Sebastian Minns (LN/TM). Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) got off to a poor start from the outside of the front row and dropped back to 15th. Iliffe was 3rd ahead of Minns and Kenzo Craigie (KR/Iame). Rocco Coronel (KR/Iame) was back in 8th place behind Martinese. At the halfway point, Schaufler was leading Lyzen by 0.382 seconds, with Iliffe in 3rd place less than 2 tenths behind. The duel continued between Martinese and Filippo Sala (LN/TM) for P5. Iliffe attacked Lyzen and took 2nd place, 7 tenths behind Schaufler. Schaufler won 0.372” ahead of Iliffe (+5 places) then Minns 3rd at 1.1”. Lyzen finished 4th, Martinese 5th and Sala 6th. Costoya was back in 10th place. In 19th place, William Calleja (Parolin/TM) had moved up 12 places.
