OK Final: convincing victory and title for Eyckmans and Birel ART

Under the cloudy skies of Sarno, the track had dried out a little, but the weather remained uncertain for the OK Final of the WSK Super Master Series contested on rain tyres. Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) held the lead at the start, while David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) passed Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM). Salim Hanna (KR/Iame) was back in 5th place, Bondarev took the lead, Eyckmans tried to attack Pavan to overtake him on lap 3. The Belgian from the Birel Art Racing Team then took P2 less than 8 tenths behind the leader Bondarev. Eyckmans took the lead on lap 5, with Walther shortly after overtaking Bondarev for 2nd place. Hanna was 4th and Elia Papacena (Tony Kart/TM) 5th. Jiri Becicka (IPKart/TM) had moved up eight places to 6th. After the halfway point, Walther had closed in on Eyckmans and was trying to overtake him. The Belgian showed himself capable of resisting by making the most of every possible line on this track. A three-way battle ensued with Bondarev as the lap times continued to fall thanks to renewed grip. Eyckmans continued to convince and set the fastest time on the penultimate lap to take a magnificent victory 5 tenths ahead of Walther, with Bondarev finishing 3rd 6 tenths further back. Pavan and Hanna completed the top five.

Championship podium.
