Eyckmans wins a slippery and hotly contested OK Prefinal

Under dark skies and on a track that was still damp, the choice of rain tyres was taken up by most of the drivers in the OK Prefinal of the final round of the WSK Super Master Series at the foot of Mount Vesuvius.

Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) slid into 2nd place behind Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex), while David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) went off the track. Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM) was 3rd ahead of Tiziano Monza (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Salim Hanna (KR/Iame). Bondarev slipped up again and handed P2 to Eyckmans. The Belgian from Birel ART Racing went up the inside of Pavan to take the lead on lap 4, with Bondarev returning to 2nd. The duel between Eyckmans and Bondarev intensified, with a number of changes at the front. Eliott Kaczynski (Tony Kart/TM) was back in 4th place ahead of Monza before the halfway point. Eyckmans increased his lead from lap 7 onwards, but Bondarev reacted by setting a better time thanks to different lines which enabled him to attack the leader several times. Very concentrated, Eyckmans won a very lively race 0.241” ahead of Bondarev and then Pavan. Kaczynski took P4 ahead of Elia Papacena (Tony Kart/TM).
