Hoogendoorn and Schaufler win the OK-Junior Prefinals

The weather was fine for the OK-Junior Prefinals of the WSK Super Master Series at Franciacorta on Sunday morning, with a temperature of 9°.

Prefinal A: Hoogendoorn wins after a close battle
Thanks to an excellent start, Dean Hoogendorn (KR/Iame) took the lead ahead of Filippo Sala (LN/TM), Iskender Zulfikari (KR/Iame) and Rocco Coronel (KR/Iame), while Cristian Costoya (Parolin/TM) was 5th. Sala attacked Hoogendoorn for P1 on the third lap. Roman Kamyab (LN/TM) returned to the top five ahead of Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame). Hoogendoorn regained the lead on lap 6, with Coronel completing a tightly-packed leading trio in which one leader followed another. Martinese managed to move up to 3rd place ahead of Coronel and Kamyab at the halfway point. Hoogendoorn then dropped back to 5th in the battle. After 10 of the 15 laps, Martinese was leading ahead of Coronel and Kamyab, followed by Hoogendoorn in 4th and Sala in 5th. The positions changed continuously in the final laps and it was Hoogendoorn who took the lead 0.165″ ahead of Martinese. Coronel, 3rd on the track, was demoted to 16th after several penalties. Kamyab inherited P3 ahead of Jack Illife (Exprit/TM). Sala finished 5th, Costoya 6th. Aloïs Girardet (Energy/TM) drove a solid race in 8th position and Louis Cochet (KR/Iame) had made up 11 places to 13th. Lilian Soares (Redspeed/Vortex) had not completed a single lap.

Prefinal B: Schaufler dominates
Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) and Scott Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex) went off the track at the first corner and the slow procedure came into effect. Bosco Arias (KR/Iame) led ahead of Nicklas Schaufler (KR/Iame), Lev Krutogolov (Tony Kart/Iame), Henry Domain (Energy/TM) and Sebastian Lehtimaki (Tony Kart/Vortex) in the top five. The race restarted on lap 3. Schaufler took the lead on the next lap from Arias and Domain. Théo Battisti (Sodi/TM) got off to a good start, but retired after fourl laps. Thomas Pradier (KR/Iame) returned to the top 10 thanks to a fine progression. Krutogolov retired after Scott Marsh (Tony Kart/Vortex). Schaufler increased his advantage at the end of the race and won 2.3″ ahead of Lehtimaki and Domain, while Arias was 4th ahead of Qarrar Firhand (Parolin/TM). Pradier finished 8th (+9 places) before being penalised 14th for his spoiler and Matéo Rivals (Sodi/TM) was 27th.
