The Cremona track was beginning to dry out, but grip was still precarious on rain tyres during the OK Prefinals of the WSK Super Master Series.
Prefinal A: Eyckmans holds off Skulanov
Gerasim Skulanov (KR/Iame) immediately followed in the footsteps of leader Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM), but Noah Wolfe (Birel ART/TM) managed to get into 2nd place on the first lap. Dante Vinci (KR/Iame) was 4th and Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) 5th. Skulanov took over P2 again and made a move on Eyckmans a second ahead of him. Kian Fardin (KR/Iame) was isolated in 4th position. Eliott Kaczynski (Tony Kart/TM) put the pressure on Drummond for 5th place. Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame) was back in the top 10, but his machine wasn’t looking very fast. Skulanov came back more clearly on the leader after half the race. Eyckmans, however, maintained his position with proven trajectories. He managed to win the race 0.367″ ahead of the daring Skulanov. Wolfe secured P3 despite a front fairing penalty, Drummond was fourth and Iglesias fifth with a gain of 8 places. Tom Dussol (CRG/Iame) finished 16th (+13 places) with a front fairing penalty.
Prefinal B: MacLaughlin dominates
Fionn MacLaughlin (KR/Iame) immediately came up against Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame). Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) was 3rd ahead of Freddie Lloyd (LN/TM) and Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM). Jimmy Helias (KR/Iame) had moved up three places to 6th. Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/Vortex) was closing in on the top 10, while Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) lacked pace at the start of the race. Lloyd was back in 2nd place 1.6″ behind leader MacLaughlin. Bondarev was isolated in 3rd position, as were Gomez in 4th, Hélias in 5th and Kai Rillaerts (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 6th. MacLaughlin increased his advantage at the end of the race and won with the fastest lap 3.7” ahead of Lloyd. Bondarev secured P3 well ahead of Gomez and Hélias was 5th. Quincé finished 11th and Consani 14th.
