OK Prefinals: Hanna and Bondarev victorious

With the sun shining, the temperature was slowly rising in Lonato on Sunday lunchtime for the OK Prefinals of the WSK Champions Cup.

Prefinal A: Hanna with a bit of luck
Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) snuck into 2nd place behind Salim Hanna (KR/Iame), Bolliet took the lead on the 2nd lap, while Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) overtook Guy Albag (KR/Iame) in 3rd. Guillaume Bouzar (CRG/Iame) was back in 5th. Khavalkin took P2 before the halfway point with Albag in his wake. In 15th place, Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) failed to make up any ground. Still in the lead, Bolliet tried to hold off Khavalkin. Khavalkin tried a daring overtake, but bumped Bolliet. Hanna took advantage and regained 1st place, followed by Albag, Bouzar and Leo Nilsson (KR/Iame), then Bolliet in 5th place. Khavalkin retired and Bolliet did the same a little later. Hanna eventually won by more than 8 tenths ahead of Albag and Nilsson, then Bouzar and Vasileios Apostolidis (KR/Iame). Consani finished 13th.

Prefinal B: a fine win for Bondarev
Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM) held the advantage at the start over Jindrich Pesl (Intrepid/TM) and Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM), with Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) losing two places. Bondarev quickly made up his deficit by reaching P2 on the fifth lap at a very high pace. The Ukrainian took 1st position on lap 8. Eyckmans was then under threat from Pesl, who attacked him on the following lap. Drummond followed in 3rd position. Bondarev was on his way to a fine victory over Pesl and Drummond, followed by Eyckmans and Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM), who came back strongly. Hugo Herrouin (KR/Iame) finished 18th.
