KZ2 Prefinals for Sodi with Palomba and Denner in Lonato

KZ2 Prefinals for Sodi with Palomba and Denner in Lonato

The temperature rose gently from 3 to 5° in the sun in Lonato for the KZ2 Prefinals of the WSK Champions Cup.

Prefinal A: Palomba despite Bertuca

Giuseppe Palomba (Sodi/TM) started from pole position ahead of Andrea Dale’ (CRG/TM), but Alex Maragliano (Sodi/TM) immediately moved up to 2nd followed by Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM). Craig Tanic (Birel ART/TM) was 7th. Bertuca then attacked Marigliano for P2, 1.3″ behind Palomba. Dalé and Markus Kajak (Maranello/TM) battled for 4th position. Kajak then moved up to 3rd ahead of Maragliano and Daniel Stell (KR/Iame), while Bertuca closed the gap on leader Palomba. Tanic seemed to be struggling and was losing ground. Palomba managed to win by 82 thousandths ahead of Bertuca. Kajak finished 3rd at 1.5″, Stell 4th and Slavik Putiatin (Maranello/TM) 5th. Florian Kuntzmann (Birel ART/TM) was 10th and Tanic 14th.

Prefinal B: Denner’s winning comeback

Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) got off to a perfect start and followed in the wake of Ethan Frigomosca (Maranello/TM), followed by Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) and Celian Gallasin (CRG/TM) then Artem Sevriukhin (Birel ART/TM) in 5th place. Denner quickly closed on his team-mate Nomblot and passed him for P2 before the halfway point. In 4th place, Gallasin set an excellent pace and was soon attacking Nomblot. Frigomosca still had a lead of 5 tenths, but Denner was in hot pursuit. Denner attacked on lap 14 and won by more than 6 tenths ahead of Frigomosca. Gallasin secured a superb 3rd place ahead of Sevriukhin and Nomblot. Corentin Rousseau (Birel ART/TM) finished 6th, Arthur Poulain (Sodi/TM) 10th (+6 places) and Antoine Broggio (Birel ART/TM) 12th.
