WSK Euro: Schaufler and Martinese win OK-Junior Prefinals

With the sun shining and the clouds threatening to dominate the skies in gusty winds, the OK-Junior Prefinals of the WSK Euro Series got underway on a track that was still dry at Sarno.

Prefinal A: Schaufler the big winner
Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) maintained his advantage at the start over Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) and Scott Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex), while Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) was back in 4th ahead of Gerasim Skulanov (KR/Iame) and Filippo Sala (LN/TM). Schaufler took the lead from Costoya by 9 tenths, while Wherrell came 3rd at 2”. Jindrich Pesl (Intrepid/TM) climbed back into the top five ahead of Sala. Wherrell held off Lindblom for 3rd place until lap 10. Schaufler broke away to take the win 2.7″ ahead of Costoya. Lindblom finished 3rd by 38 thousandths from Wherrell. Sala was back in 5th place ahead of Pesl and Skulanov.

Prefinal B: Martinese dominates
Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) maintained his advantage at the start over Taym Saleh (KR/Iame) and Oliver Kinmark (Tony Kart/Iame). Xiaoyo Sun (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 4th and David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) 5th ahead of Jack Illife (Parolin/TM). Martinese was very fast and extended his lead, while the battle for 2nd position was intense. 2” behind the leader, Saleh was for the moment in control of Kinmark, Sun resisting the pressure from Cosma Cristofor until lap 10. Martinese won the race with a 2.2″ advantage over Saleh. Kinmark was 3rd at one second, Cosma Cristofor finished 4th at 5 tenths with the fastest time. Sun secured a fine 5th place ahead of Iliffe and Eliott Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex).
