Franciacorta: Dubnitski the surprising OK poleman

Qualifying Practice for the OK World Championship brought together 111 participants in five sessions in excellent conditions at Franciacorta on Friday morning. Between 20° and 22° on the thermometer, the sky was more or less overcast but the track was dry. Fitted with MG tyres, the drivers gradually took to the track for the last four minutes of each series.

Session 1: Iglesias – 47”454
At the end of the second lap, Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) set the bar at 47”7 ahead of Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame) and Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM). The times improved, but Tarnvanichkul remained in the lead until Iglesias set the fastest time of 47”454, 19 thousandths ahead of the Thai. Emanuele Olivieri (Birel ART/TM) finished 3rd, just over a tenth behind, followed by Eyckmans in 4th and Jakub Kamenik (Tony Kart/TM) in 5th. Clément Outran (KR/Iame) was 18th.

Session 2: Lammers – 47”300
Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) was the fastest in the second session against Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame) and Luviwe Sambdula (KR/Iame). Nicolo Cuman (Exprit/TM) began by taking the lead on his fourth lap ahead of Arthur Poulain (KR/Iame) but Lammers set the fastest time of 47”300 on his fifth lap, 2 hundredths ahead of Niccolo. Poulain finished 3rd at 0.163”, Sammalisto was 4th and Rillaerts 5th ahead of Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) and Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex).

Session 3: Mac Laughlin – 47’380
Fionn Mac Laughlin (KR/Iame) led after the second lap ahead of Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM). David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) then came back in 2nd. Mac Laughlin remained the fastest at 47’380 on lap 4. Stolcermanis was 2nd at 63 thousandths, then David 3rd at one tenth ahead of Kirill Kutskov (KR/Iame) and Mattia Colnaghi (CRG/Iame) 5th. Andrea Dupé (KR/Iame) was 7th, Maxens Verbrugge (CRG/Iame) 8th and Miguel Costa (Parolin/TM) 9th. 14th-placed Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM) interrupted his session after two laps.

Session 4: Gomez – 47”324
Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) was fastest on the second lap ahead of Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame), with Pacôme Weisenburger (Redspeed/TM) 4th. Francisco Macedo (CRG/Iame) regained the lead on the third lap. Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) took provisional pole in 47”324 on lap 5, 56 thousandths ahead of Nakamura-Berta. Simone Bianco (CRG/Iame) finished 3rd, just a tenth behind, with Macedo 4th and Joe Turney (KR/Iame) 5th. Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 6th ahead of Khavalkin and Jimmy Hélias (Tony Kart/TM), with Weisenburger 11th.

Session 5: Dubnitski – 47”294
Jules Caranta (Tony Kart/Vortex) set the fastest second lap ahead of Mark Dubnitski (CRG/Iame) and Olin Galli (CRG/Iame). Dubnitski improved to 47”294 on the fourth lap and took pole position 16 thousandths ahead of his team-mate Galli, then Alex Powell (KR/Iame) 3rd, a tenth behind. Caranta secured an excellent 4th place ahead of Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex).
