World Championship: Denner takes pole position in Wackersdorf

Friday morning ended in Wackersdorf with Qualifying for the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship – KZ. With 49 drivers, two sessions, sunshine and 25°C in Bavaria, the long-awaited
battle was on.

Session 1: Denner – 45”397
David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) led on the second lap ahead of Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) who took the lead on the third lap from Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) and Viktor Gustafsson (CRG/TM). Denner replied on the fourth lap in 45”397. Leuillet was 2nd at 25 thousandths, then Trefilov 3rd at 62 thousandths. Gustafsson finished 4th, less than a tenth behind Yohan Soguel (Sodi/TM). 6th place went to Francesco Celenta (Parolin/TM) ahead of Adrien Renaudin (DR/Modena). Jorrit Pex (KR/TM) finished 10th ahead of Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) and Arthur Carbonnel (CRG/TM) 13th.

Session 2: Ippolito – 45”427
Craig Tanic (Birel ART/TM) got off to an early start with a series of purple sectors on his first two laps. Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) was quickest on his second lap and then confirmed his lead over Danilo Albanese (KR/Iame) and then Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM). Paolo Ippolito (KR/Iame) regained the lead in 45”427, Albanese followed at 2 hundredths, Coluccio was 3rd at 48 thousandths. Van Walstijn finished 4th at 0.113” ahead of Lorenzo Camplese (Tony Kart/Vortex). Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) was 6th, Stan Pex (KR/TM) 7th, Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) 8th, Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) 9th and Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) 10th. Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM) took 12th place, with Tanic finishing 19th.
