Undisputed victory for Barbaroux in DD2 Max

The clouds took over from the sun in Le Mans for the DD2 Max Final of the RMCIT, but rain didn’t seem about to reduce the grip. Antoine Barbaroux (Sodi/Rotax) got off to a good start from 1st position, while Xen De Ruwe (Tony Kart/Rotax) immediately made his mark against Christian Sørensen (Birel ART/Rotax) and Victor Sendin (Birel ART/Rotax), who also got off to a good start. Sørensen passed De Ruwe, but went wide at the end of the straight and dropped back to 5th. This allowed Barbaroux to get away. Sendin was 3rd at the head of a turbulent group. Dylan Léger (Sodi/Rotax) was back in 6th place, gaining 6 places. In 4th place, Sørensen was followed by Rasmus Vendelbo (Kosmic/Rotax) and Leon Mandl (Birel ART/Rotax). Sørensen attacked Sendin for P3. De Ruwe gradually closed on Barbaroux, who was leading by 8 tenths at the halfway stage. The Frenchman reacted with a better lap. Léger overtook Sendin for 4th place. It was Sørensen who closed the gap on De Ruwe, while Vendelbo briefly passed Léger. Sendin’s situation didn’t improve in 9th position. The leading trio had distanced themselves from the peloton by 3.5″. Barbaroux put in a string of fast laps with great consistency. He took a resounding victory 1” ahead of De Ruwe and Sørensen 3rd 6 tenths later. Léger secured 4th place after moving up nine places ahead of Maxim Dirickx (KR/Rotax).
