Ashcroft wins Mini Super Heat

Overcast and misty on Saturday morning in Le Mans, a few drops accompanied the start of the RMCIT Super Heat for Mini Max. The first corner already led to a few slides to the outside. Albert Friend (Tony Kart/Rotax) was leading ahead of Jacob Ashcroft (LN/Rotax) and Jeremy Reuvers (Parolin/Rotax). Cole Denholm (LN/Rotax) had a DNS, as did Yanis Courage (Kosmic/Rotax) and Tylian Hapiot (Kosmic/Rotax). Friend had quickly built up a good lead, more than 2” ahead of Ashcroft, with Reuvers almost 3” further back at the head of the pack on the fourth lap. Nikita Ljubimov (Tony Kart/Rotax) was back in 3rd place, followed by Maxim Bobreshov (KR/Rotax). Zdenek Babicek (MS Kart/Rotax) had moved up nine places to 5th. Léni Robillot Lagache (Tony Kart/Rotax) recovered from a difficult start to close in on the top 10 with a fastest time. Friend crashed out and Ashcroft took P1 with two laps to go. Ashcroft went on to win by more than 3.5 seconds from Bobreshov. Friend seemed to be struggling with technical problems, but secured 3rd place ahead of Lars Lambert (KR/Rotax) and Babicek in 5th place. Robillot Lagache was 6th despite a spiler penalty and set the fastest lap. Alexandre Parodi (Parolin/Rotax) finished 24th.
