Cremona – OK-Junior Qualifying: Ramaekers takes a superb pole

81 OK-Junior drivers on Vega tyres were in action in Qualifying for the fourth and final round of the European Championship at Cremona on Friday afternoon. The sunny weather was combined with a dry track and a temperature of 28°. Most of the drivers allowed between three and four minutes of the six available before taking to the track for two or three flying laps. The results were somewhat surprising, with sometimes large gaps at the top of the rankings.

Session 1: Van Langendonck – 48”705
Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame) led ahead of Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) and Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) on the second lap. Van Langendonck finished 1st with a third lap time of 48”705. He was followed by Martinese at 65 thousandths, Wherrell finished 3rd at 0.184” ahead of Matias Orjuela (Birel ART/TM) and Alfie Slater (LN/TM). Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) was 7th and Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) 10th.

Session 2: Ramaekers – 48”605
Thibaut Ramaekers took provisional pole on lap 2 with a time of 48”605, more than 4 tenths ahead of Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) and Jack Iliffe (Parolin/TM). Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) was 4th ahead of Noah Monteiro (KR/Iame).

Session 3: Francis – 49”082
Lewis Francis (KR/Iame) was fastest at the end of the second lap ahead of Arjen Kräling (KR/Iame) and Sebastian Lehtimaki (Parolin/TM). Without improving, Lewis remained in the lead with a time of 49’082, 0.136 seconds ahead of Kräling and Vivek Kanthan (Parolin/TM) who finished level on points. Lehtimaki took 4th place ahead of Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame). Andy Consani (Parolin/TM) was 10th and Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) 19th. Gerasim Skulanov (Birel ART/TM) did not take to the track.
