Gustafsson wins the KZ Super Heat in Sarno

The Super Heat of the European KZ Championship got underway on Sunday morning in sunny Sarno with temperatures of 33°.

Viktor Gustafsson (CRG/TM) got the better of Danilo Albanese (KR/Iame) when the lights went out. Francesco Celenta (Parolin/TM), Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) and Paolo Ippolito (KR/Iame) remained in the top five, while Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) moved up to 6th. Albanese chased down the leader with a fastest lap. Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) was back in 6th ahead of Iglesias, Stan Pex (KR/TM) 8th and Arthur Carbonnel (CRG/TM) 9th. Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM) had dropped back to 12th. Albanese tried unsuccessfully to attack Gustafsson and Celenta threatened 2nd place. Van Walstijn overtook Hiltbrand for 5th place while Iglesias continued to lose ground. Guiseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) and Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) returned to the top 10. Albanese came back on the leader at the end of the race, but Gustafsson reacted to the threat and took victory with a lead of 5.6 tenths. Celenta secured a fine 3rd place ahead of Ippolito, then van Walstijn 5th at 34 thousandths with the best lap who was then classified 9th with a spoiler penalty. Hiltbrand inherited 5th place ahead of Carbonnel, Palomba and Longhi. Iglesias 11th (-7 places), Adrien Renaudin (DR/Modena) 14th on the line and 20th after a penalty, Leuillet 16th and Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) 22nd.
