OK: French pole position thanks to Poulain in Champions of the Future

A few clouds appeared in the skies over Rødby on Thursday lunchtime as OK Qualifying for Round 3 of the Champions of the Future Euro Series got underway in temperatures of 16°C with 67 drivers on MG tyres.

Session 1: Pavan – 50”063
On the second lap, the times began to improve, but it wasn’t until the third lap that they became significant. Yuanpu Cui (KR/Iame) was clocked in 50”356, Thomas Strauven (KR/Iame) improved, but Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex) took the lead in 50”063, a thousandth ahead of Strauven. Maciej Gladysz (LN/TM) was 3rd at 14 thousandths, Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) 4th at 28 thousandths and Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame) equal 5th with Cui. Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) was 7th fastest in the session.

Session 2: Mac Laughlin – 50”006
Kirill Kutskov (KR/Iame) overtook Fionn Mac Laughlin (KR/Iame) on lap 3. Joe Turney (KR/Iame) clocked a 50’052 on his fourth lap, then Mac Laughlin responded on lap 5 in 50’006, with Turney remaining 2nd by 24 thousandths. Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) followed more than a tenth behind with Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) 4th and Kutskov 5th. Andrea Dupé (Sodi/TM) finished 18th. No time was recorded for Maxens Verbrugge (Parolin/TM).

Session 3: Poulain – 49”955
Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart/Vortex) was leading ahead of Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) on the third lap. He closed in on pole on lap 4 ahead of Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) and set a time of 49”955 on lap 5 to take pole position definitively. Alex Powell (KR/Iame) was 2nd at 12 thousandths, with Gomez 3rd at 17 thousandths. Xavire Avramides (KR/Iame) was 4th ahead of Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM) and Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex).
