The Qualifying Practice of the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship – OK gathered 80 drivers out of 93 entered in Trinec. The weather was gloomy but dry after the early morning humidity. The drivers entered the track with 4’30 / 4′ to go, time to warm up their MG tyres. As the exit from the pits was made before the timing line, the first lap was necessarily very slow.
Session 1: Walther – 51’860
The times started to be significant from the third lap with David Walther in 51’860, followed by Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) and Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart/Vortex). The fourth and fifth laps did not bring any notable progress. Alex Powell (KR/Iame) followed 4 thousandths ahead of Fionn Mc Laughlin (KR/Iame) and Tye, then Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) 5th at 77 thousandths. Guillaume Bouzar (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 10th, Maxens Verbrugge (Parolin/TM) 16th and Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) 26th.
Session 2: Gomez – 51”654
Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) completed his third lap in 52”103 and improved to 51”654 on his fourth lap, well ahead of the others. Mark Dubnitski (CRG/TM) then closed to within 3 and a half tenths, Luka Sammalisto (KR/Iame) finished 4th at 4 tenths, then Jakub Kamenik (Tony Kart/TM) 4th and Jimmy Hélias (CRG/Iame) 5th, already at ease on his new kart. Enzo Tarnvanichkul (KR/Iame) was 10th.
Session 3: Lammers – 51”774
On the second lap, Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart/Vortex) led the way ahead of Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) in 52”701. The Frenchman improved to 51”891” on the third lap. Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) was the fastest in 51”774 on lap 4, an unbeaten performance afterwards. Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) was 2nd at 11 thousandths, Ean Eyckmans (Tony Kart/Vortex) 3rd at 7 hundredths, then Miguel Costa (Parolin/TM) 4th at one tenth and Thomas Strauven (KR/Iame) 5th. Poualin finished 6th ahead of Przyrowski. Andrea Dupé (Sodi/TM) finished 20th.
