Junior – Super Heat A: Ramaekers ahead of Kaczynski

On Sunday morning, the FIA Karting European Championship – Junior shifted into high gear with the Super Heats featuring a larger points scale. The weather was partly cloudy and the wind had already picked up in Valencia, with a temperature of 18°.

Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) was up against his strongest rival, Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame), and Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) was rushing to catch up with Kaczynski followed by Davide Bottaro (Tony Kart/Vortex). But before the end of the first lap, Ramaekers overtook them to get back to the leader. Jack Illife (Parolin/TM) had been slightly injured in an accident the day before and was watching the race from the pits. Ramaekers set the fastest lap and took 1st place on the fourth lap. Kian Fardin (KR/Iame) was back in 5th place ahead of Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame), Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM) and Luna Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame). At the halfway point the situation was still uncertain due to the small gap between the two protagonists. But soon after, Ramaekers increased his lead significantly. The young Belgian driver took a superb victory, giving him a psychological advantage on Kaczynski who remained in the lead. Drummond took an important 3rd place, Fardin was 4th, Martinese 5th and Fluxa Cross 6th. Van Langendonck dropped back to 11th while Alfie Slater (LN/Vortex) in 13th place moved up nine places and Kimi Tani (Tony Kart/Vortex) moved up 12 places to 17th.
