OK-Junior: Ramaekers confirms his great competitiveness in the Final in Valencia

It was still sunny in Valencia with 23° on the thermometer for the OK-Junior Final of the first race of the Champions of the Future Euro Series.

Eliott Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) had to retire before the start. Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) and Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) were already fighting it out in the first lap, while seven drivers were left out of the race due to a collective collision. Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) was left behind in 3rd place, Filippo Sala (Sodi/TM) 4th and Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex) 5th ahead of Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) and Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM). Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) had a good start, 7th with five positions taken. Wherrell came back to Antonov while Sala resisted the group led by Schaufler. Sala had to let Schaufler pass on lap 6, but defended well from Dzitiev for 5th place. The three leaders were separated by 5 tenths each at mid-race when Ramaekers took over the lead from Antonov, followed by Wherrell in 3rd place. Schaufler was 4th by more than 2,5”, then Dzitiev 5th, Sala 6th and Drummond 7th. Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) lost places in 16th position due to a small mistake on the track. Ramaekers increased the pace to outrun his rivals. Jack Iliffe (Parolin/TM) came back to his team-mate Drummond after passing van Langendonck. Ramaekers concluded his exceptional weekend with a clear victory 1,1” ahead of Antonov and Wherrell in 3rd place by 0,483”. Dzitiev and Sala completed the top five ahead of Drummond and Iliffe. Noah Monteiro (KR/Iame) gained over 13 places to finish 10th.
