OK Final: Turney wins in the end

The weekend ended in sunshine with 25 degrees and no wind at the Kartódromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Valencia with the OK Final of the first round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series.

Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) was the leader on the first lap against Alex Powell (KR/Iame) and Arthur Poulain (Tony Kart/Vortex) while Kean Nakamura-Berta (KR/Iame) was 6th and Jimmy Hélias (Tony Kart/Vortex) 10th. David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 4th ahead of Joe Turney (KR/Iame). Powell attacked Przyrowski on the second lap to take P1. Poulain cleverly took 2nd place ahead of Przyrowski while Nakamura-Berta and Walther were eliminated in a collision on lap 4. Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) was back in the top 10 with an improvement of five places. Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) overtook Nacho Tunon (KR/Iame) for 8th position. Turney moved up to 3rd ahead of Przyrowski. Turney was under investigation, but this did not prevent him from overtaking Poulain for 2nd place shortly after the halfway point. A 5″ penalty was announced for Turney as he took the lead from Powell. Tarnvanichkul and Przyrowski battled for 4th place late in the race as Poulain closed in on Powell before having to control the threat from Tarnvanichkul. Turney crossed the line 1st, 1.7″ ahead of Powell who was initially declared the winner ahead of the brilliant Poulain. After deliberation, Turney’s penalty disappeared and he took the top step of the podium with Powell 2nd and Poulain 3rd. Tarnvanichkul was 4th and Przyrowski 5th. Tye was 6th with seven places taken, Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) had regained 14 places to 7th. Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) was 8th, Rene Lammers (Parolin/TM) 9th and Caranta 10th. Jimmy Hélias (Tony Kart/Vortex) was disappointed, falling back to 29th place. Malo Bolliet (KR/Iame) finished 31st.
