Dzitiev and van Langendonck win hectic OK-Junior Prefinals

The weather was more pleasant on Sunday morning in Sarno with 15° and sunshine for the OK-Junior Prefinals of the third round of the WSK Super Master Series.

Prefinal A
Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) started in the lead ahead of Tiziano Monza (Parolin/TM) and Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM). Several drivers, including Filippo Sala (Sodi/TM), did not finish the first lap. Costoya went on the attack and took 1st place followed by Monza. He then fell to 6th place while Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) temporarily moved up to 2nd place, then Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex) took the lead. The positions changed with each lap. Antonov was neck and neck with Monza and Dzitiev for the victory in the last laps. The finish was close. Dzitiev came out on top in the final battle that had done some damage. Noah Wolfe (Birel ART/TM) finished 2nd by 1.3″, followed by Monza and Antonov (+9 places). Salim Hanna Hernandez (LN/Vortex) took 5th place against Bondarev.

Prefinal B
Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) had the lead at the start, but Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) took 2nd place ahead of Scott Kin Lindblom (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM). Drummond quickly took the lead ahead of a determined trio. Louis Cochet (Sodi/TM) had a good start with four places gained in 19th position. Van Langendonck took P1 on the fourth lap, but the battle was going to be intense. Kaczynski regained the lead, whilst Lev Krutogolov (Tony Kart/Iame) moved into the top five ahead of David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame). Van Langendonck took over the lead at the halfway point in front of the two Tony Karts and escaped. The 2nd position was going to be very competitive. Drummond went off the track after having returned to P3. With three laps to go, the slow procedure was initiated. Van Langendonck lost his lead by more than 1.5″, but won the race under yellow flags. Kaczynski finished 2nd, Cosma Cristofor 3rd, Krutogolov 4th and Lindblom 5th. Cochet was up to 15th before an incident relegated him to 22nd.
