Kian Fardin takes OK-Junior pole at Sarno

109 OK-Junior drivers completed scrutineering for the FIA Karting World Championship which has started in Sarno. The weather was grey and rainy at daybreak with 25° on the Neapolitan circuit on Friday morning for the Qualifying Practice divided into four sessions alternating with the OKs. The track was drying progressively despite some raindrops.

Session 1: Skulanov – 1’10”365
Adam Hideg (Sodi/TM) started strongly, Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex) was the fastest on the first lap. Petr Ageev (Birel ART/TM) completed the best second lap against Hideg and Taym Saleh (KR/Iame). Hideg regained the lead on lap 3, but Gerasim Skulanov (Birel ART/TM) set the fastest time of 1’10”365 on his fourth lap, 11 thousandths ahead of Noah Wolfe (Birel ART/TM) and Hideg at 18 thousandths. Ageev was 4th by 43 thousandths, then Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame) fifth by 2 tenths. Helias finished 7th.

Session 2: Khavalkin – 1’08”677
On the first lap, Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) was the fastest against Alfie Slater (LN/Vortex) who was already under 1’10”. Khavalkin was confirmed on the second lap, followed by Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex) and Iwo Beszterda (Parolin/TM) with Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) in 4th place. Khavalkin improved again in the third lap against Caranta. Clément Outran (KR/Iame) was 4th. Khavalkin finished on provisional pole with 1’08”677, followed by Dries van Langendonck (Energy/TM) by 0.256” and Caranta by 3 tenths. Gladysz finished 4th, Andres Cardenas (KR/Iame) 5th ahead of Slater. Outran was 9th, Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) 16th, Arthur Dorison (Tony Kart/Vortex) 20th and Emilio Ortolani (Sodi/TM) 24th.

Session 3: Fardin – 1’07”075
Andrea Dupe (Sodi/TM) quickly got into action on the first lap. Kian Fardin (Energy/TM) was in the lead on the second lap, ahead of Stepan Antonov (KR/Iame) and Sandro Perez (KR/Iame), and the hierarchy was confirmed on the third lap. Fardin confirmed his position with a time of 1’07”075 against Zhenrui Chi (KR/TM), less than 3 tenths further back. Dupe came back to 3rd by 4 tenths on his fifth lap against Leo Nilsson (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Tony Kart/Vortex) in front of Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) 6th. Sacha Avril (Tony Kart/Vortex) was struggling in last position.

Session 4: Przyrowski – 1’07”140
Mattia Colnaghi (Exprit/TM) took the lead on the second lap ahead of Tom Kalender (KR/Iame). Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) took the lead on lap 3. Alexander Dahlstrom (Energy/TM) was the fastest on lap 4, but Przyrowski narrowly set the fastest time on his fifth lap with 1’07”140. Dahlstrom was relegated by 0.134”, Martin Molnar (Energy/TM) was 3rd, 4 tenths behind, followed by Alp Hassan Askoy (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Scott Lindblom (CRG/TM) Maxens Verbrugge (KR/Iame) finished 10th and Hugo Martiniello (KR/Iame) 12th. Guillaume Bouzar (Tony Kart/Vortex) did not take the track.
