Academy Qualifying: fastest time for Bouzar in Genk

For the first time, following the wishes of the FIA, 54 drivers of 53 nationalities took the start of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy in Genk at the wheel of the one-make Exprit/Vortex with LeCont tyres. Good performances were already achieved on the second lap.

Caleb Gafrarar (USA) was the leader on lap 2 of Session 1, followed by Thibaut Ramaekers (BEL), Aleksandar Bogunovic (SVN) and Jindrisch Pesl (CZE) who were neck and neck from lap 3 onwards. The fastest times were set on the fourth lap. Ramaekers remained the fastest with 54”248, a hundredth ahead of Bogunovic with Pesl 3rd by 16 thousandths. Luca Houghton (BHR) finished 4th and Gafrarar 5th by 54 thousandths. The 6th, Markas Silkunas (LTU) finished at 0,110”.

In the second session, the laps were more staggered. William Go (PHL) was the fastest on the second lap ahead of Guillaume Bouzar (LUX) and Arthur Dorison (FRA). Chiatta Bätig (CHE) was 4th. Bouzar improved on his fourth lap to take pole position with 54’128. Go followed by 39 thousandths, then Dorison by 0.117”. Joel Pohjola (FIN) finished 4th by 0.239” ahead of Dinu Stroescu (ROU).
