Dzitiev and Bondarev win the OK-Junior Super Heats in Portimão

The OK-Junior Super Heats for Champions of the Future took place under the sunshine of Portimao on Sunday morning.

Guillaume Bouzar (Tony Kart/Vortex), who was expected to be on the front row, did not start Super Heat 1, as a mechanical problem delayed his arrival in the parc ferme. Several karts came together in the first few corners, but Nathan Tye (Sodi/TM) led the way ahead of Lucas Fluxa Cross (KR/Iame) and Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex). The battle was on. Dzitiev took the lead and escaped. He won by 4 tenths ahead of Tye, who came back with the fastest lap from 4th position. Andres Cardenas (Energy/TM) took 3rd place ahead of Fluxa Cross and Kirill Kutskov (Birel ART/TM). Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/TM) had retired in the incident at the start.

In the next race the slow procedure was applied from the first lap to clear the five karts involved in an incident in the first corners. The restart took place on the third lap and Oleksandr Bondarev (LN/Vortex) led ahead of Tiziano Monza (KR/Iame) and Maciej Gladysz (LN/Vortex). Bondarev won the race with a 2,4” advantage over his team-mate Galdysz. Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin/TM) had moved up six places to 3rd ahead of Dmitry Matveev (Tony Kart/Vortex) with Monza 5th. Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart/Vortex) had made up ground at the start of the race and finished 8th (+5 pl). Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) was 13th, Maxens Verbrugge (Exprit/TM) came back to 15th after a complicated start, Jules Caranta (Energy/TM) progressed to 16th (+6 pl) and Arthur Dorison (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 23rd.
