KZ2 Prefinals Lonato: Denner and Trefilov win

The sun was beginning to warm up the atmosphere in Lonato for the KZ2 Prefinals of the second round of the WSK Super Master Series.

Stan Pex (KR/TM) dominated Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) at the start of Prefinal A. Adrien Renaudin (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 3rd ahead of Emilien Denner (Sodi/TM) with David Liwinski (Birel ART/TM) 5th followed by Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM). Denner attacked Hiltbrand for 2nd position on the fifth lap. Viktor Gustafsson (CRG/TM) and Alessio Piccini (Birel ART/TM) moved up to 6th and 7th place. Denner took the lead at mid-race, Renaudin and van Walstijn moved up to 3rd and 4th, passing Hiltbrand. Van Walstijn in turn attacked Pex for 2nd on the 12th lap. Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) and Craig Tanic (Birel ART/TM) had to retire. Van Walstijn was closing in on his team-mate Denner for the finish, but the Frenchman won by 0.262” over the Dutchman. Gustafsson finished 3rd ahead of Pex and Hiltbrand while Renaudin was 6th followed by Moritz Ebner (Birel ART/TM) and Piccini. Tom Leuillet (Birel ART/TM) finished in 9th place.

David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) was ahead of Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) at the start of Prefinal B. Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) was 2nd, Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM) was 4th ahead of Matteo Zanchi (Birel ART/TM) and Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM). Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Mattéo Spirgel (Sodi/TM) did not complete a lap. Palomba went off the track and fell to 8th place. Carbonnel took the lead on the seventh lap ahead of Zanchi and Trefilov, who went on the attack. The Russo-German took over the lead on lap 12 from the Frenchman. Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM) gave up 3rd place to Vigano. Trefilov won by 2 tenths against Carbonnel, Tonteri was 3rd again on the last lap in front of Vigano and Tonteri. Iglesias finished 5th ahead of Zanchi and Palomba. Celian Gallasin (Intrepid/TM) finished 27th just behind Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM).
