Kristianstad – KZ: Hiltbrand disqualified, Vigano wins first heat

The weather in Kristianstad was very nice on Saturday morning, with temperatures gradually rising to 18°C, for the first Qualifying Heat of the KZ World Championship. On pole position, Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame) was 4th behind Noah Milell (Tony Kart/Vortex) the new leader, Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) and Fabian Federer (Maranello/TM). Vigano took the lead on the second lap. Lorenzo Camplese (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 5th ahead of Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) and Adrien Renaudin (Sodi/TM) was under investigation. Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM) had regained two places in 12th position, as had Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) in 16th. Camplese was threatening Hiltbrand for 4th place. Renaudin overtook Antonelli and regained his 6th place while Hiltbrand had moved up to 3rd ahead of Federer. Camplese then attacked Federer for 4th place. Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) retired. Hiltbrand was the fastest on the track, passing Milell under braking on lap 9, then taking first place on lap 11. Hiltbrand crossed the finish line in the lead, 8 tenths ahead of Vigano and Milell. But Hiltbrand was then disqualified from the event for having tried to put back his unhooked spoiler…
Vigano took the victory ahead of Milell and Camplese. Federer was 4th and Renaudin 5th ahead of Antonelli. Emilien Denner (KR/TM) was 10th, Abbasse 13th, Iglesias 16th and Craig Tanic (Birel ART/TM) 24th with a spoiler penalty.
