Magnificent pole position for van Walstijn in KZ2 in Kristianstad

The weather was fine, barely cloudy, with a temperature of almost 23° for the Qualifying Practice of the FIA Karting International Super Cup – KZ2 in Kristianstad. Juho Valtanen (KR/TM) was the fastest in the last three free sessions with a time of 50’022. Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) and Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM) also set a time under 50”1. Giacomo Pollini (CRG/TM) and Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) were not far behind, while Nikita Artmonov (Sodi/TM) confirmed the level of performance of the CPB Sport team by setting the 6th fastest time. Hubert Petit (Sodi/TM) was close to the top 10 a few hundredths further back with Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM) and Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) on a good pace.

In the first session, Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM) was one of the few to improve on his fourth lap with 50’123. Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) followed him by 36 thousandths. Fabrizio Rosato (KR/TM) was 3rd by more than 1.5 tenths, followed by Laurens Van Hoepen (Birel ART/TM), while Jesper Sjöberg (Birel ART/TM) finished 5th just ahead of James Wharton (Parolin/TM).

Nikita Artmonov (Sodi/TM) was neck and neck with Kajus Siksnelis (Energy/TM) in the second session. Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) took the lead provisionally. Danilo Albanese (KR/Iame) finished in the lead with a third lap of 50’212, one tenth ahead of David Trefilov (Maranello/TM), with Siksnelis and Imbourg in his wake. Genis Civico (KR/Iame) finished 5th ahead of Siksnelis, while Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) was 7th at 2 tenths.

Despite a warning, Giacomo Pollini (CRG/TM) clocked a 50”238 on the third lap of the third session, but it was very close behind him between Jean Luyet (Tony Kart/Vortex), Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM) and Viktor Öberg (Parolin/TM), all three of whom were more or less 5 hundredths off, and then the young Kris Haanen (Tony Kart/TM) in 5th place, 65 thousandths off. Angelo Lombardo (Parolin/TM) and Markus Kajak (Tony Kart/Vortex) followed within a tenth.

The fourth session entered the track slightly later. Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) set a pole position time of 49”969 on his second lap and improved to 49”901. Samuel Luyet (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 3rd, more than two tenths ahead of Alessio Piccini (Birel ART/TM). Rasmus Jansson (Birel ART/TM) was 4th, nearly 4 tenths behind and Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM) was 5th. Hubert Petit (Sodi/TM) was 8th and Yoann Sanchez (Sodi/TM) 14th.
