Incredible pole position for Antonelli in KZ

The 24 drivers of the FIA Karting European Championship – KZ waited for a long time in the shade of the Adria pre-grid before facing the track’s furnace for their timed practice. The first spoilers came out for a warm up lap with less than three minutes to go. The second lap was quicker with Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame) and his radiator returned to its normal position at the behest of the officials. The final result was surprising: Antonnelli had improved to 48”031 to take pole position, a tenth ahead of the Charles Leclerc coloured chassis of Matteo Vigano (Birel ART/TM) and Viktor Gustafsson (Birel ART/TM). Paolo Ippolito (CRG/TM) was 4th ahead of Emilien Denner (Intrepid/TM), two tenths behind. Jérémy Iglesias (CRG/TM) was 6th ahead of Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) and Francesco Celenta (Parolin/TM). Adrien Renaudin (Sodi/TM) took 9th place and Stan Pex (KR/TM) 11th. Alex Irlando (CRG/TM) finished 17th, Marijn Kremers (Birel ART/TM) 19th and Riccardo Longhi (Birel ART/TM) 21st.
