Adria: Albanese takes the KZ2 pole position

There were slightly cloudy skies and 36° for the Qualifying Practice of the European KZ2 Championship and its 81 participants in Aria this Friday 13th August. Given the heat, it was not expected that the drivers would rush to the track…

In Session 1, Senna van Walstijn (Sodi/TM) went under 49” on his first lap. On his second lap he clocked 48’376, but Danilo Albanese (KR/Iame) was 46 thousandths faster than him at 48’330. Paavo Tonteri (CRG/TM) was in the same league at 67 thousandths, while Juho Valtanen (KR/TM) finished 4th at 0.144” followed by Brandon Nilsson (CRG/TM) while Thomas Imbourg (Sodi/TM) was 10th. David Trefilov (Maranello/TM) was only 12th.

Samuel Luyet (Tony Kart/Vortex) was the fastest in the second session in 48”444, only 8 thousandths ahead of Jamie Day (Birel ART/TM). The top five were grouped within 8 hundredths with Leonardo Marseglia (KR/Iame) 3rd, Laurens van Hoepen (Birel ART/TM) 4th and Arthur Carbonnel (Sodi/TM) 5th. Jean Luyet (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 15th ahead of James Wharton (Parolin/TM).

The third session started slightly more smoothly, although Hubert Petit (Sodi/TM) was already running in less than 48’7. Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART/TM) set the fastest time on his second run, 48’402. Giacomo Pollini (CRG/TM) came back to 1 hundredth on the third lap, and Petit secured 3rd position 56 thousandths ahead of Kajus Siksnelis (Energy/TM) and Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin/TM). 6th-placed Jorge Pescador (CRG/TM) was more than two tenths behind. Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) was only 19th.
