Final victory and European Junior title for Slater

Freddie Slater (Kosmic/Vortex) was trailed by Alex Powell (KR/Iame) on the first lap, while Matheus Ferreira (KR/Iame) was in 6th place. Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy/TM) then moved up to 2nd ahead of Douwe Dedecker (KR/Iame). Powell was back in 3rd ahead of Ean Eyckmans (Kosmic/Vortex), while Stolcermanis put the leader under pressure. A group crash on the third lap eliminated Ferreira and Harley Keeble (Tony Kart/Vortex). Stolcermanis was closer than ever to Slater, still less than a tenth behind while Eyckmans was back in 3rd ahead of Powell. The attack took place on lap 8, and Slater dropped back to 4th while Stolcermanis led ahead of Eyckmans and Powell. James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex) was not far behind in 5th. Slater’s title was not in danger, but Eyckmans and Powell were fighting for 2nd place in the championship.

Eyckmans was leading by more than 6 tenths over Powell. Slater was back in 3rd, with Maksim Orlov (Parolin/TM) also overtaking Stolcermanis for 4th. The top three were within 3 tenths of each other with three laps to go. Egozi came back to 5th after a battle between the Parolin drivers Orlov and Al Dhaheri. The gaps in the top three had closed as the last lap approached. Slater managed to win with incredible panache. Eyckmans finished 2nd, but Stolcermanis came into the battle and caught up with Powell. Orlov took 3rd place ahead of Egozi and Al Dhaheri. Augustin Bernier (KR/Iame) made up seven places to 15th, Maxens Verbrugge (Kosmic/Vortex) 18 places to 17th. 16 karts did not finish.

Freddie Slater took the European Junior crown with 99 points ahead of Matheus Ferreira on 65 points and Ean Eyckmans on 60 points. The incident on the last lap cost Alex Powell 2nd place and he was 4th with 58 points, ahead of James Egozi on 44 points.
