Lavaux finishes top of the heats in the International Handikart Trophy

In the first heat, Marc Borgetto (FRA-Respeed/Iame-H2) was under increasing threat from Morgan Lavaux (FRA-Sodi/Rotax-H1) for 10 laps before the latter attacked him and took the lead with a 1.4″ advantage. Alain Nicolle (FRA-Sodi/Rotax-H2) tried hard to catch up with the leading duo, but in vain. Joan Lascorz-Moreno (ESP-CRG/Iame-H3) had another great race and even overtook Nicolle on the last lap to take 3rd place. Mickaël Vaché (FRA-Sodi/Rotax-H2) held on to 5th place ahead of Benjamin Alexandre (FRA-Exprit/Iame-H1).

Joan Lascorz-Moreno jumped from 6th to 3rd place at the start of the second heat and followed Morgan Lavaux, which left Marc Borgetto free in the lead. Lascorz attacked Lavaux on the third lap to take 2nd place. Alain Nicolle fought to keep his 4th place against Mickaël Vaché. Lavaux then fell back to P5. Nicolle then led the chasing group in pursuit of Lascorz. Lavaux recovered and came back to 3rd with two laps to go. Borgetto was heading for a solid victory with a 4,5″ advantage. Lavaux passed Lascorz on the last lap for 2nd place. Nicolle finished 4th ahead of Vaché.

Light rain started to fall for the start of the third heat, but it didn’t really disturb the race. Behind the two previous winners, Borgetto and Lavaux, Lascorz again made a great start, moving up from 6th to 3rd place in the first lap. Vaché passed Nicolle in the top five and closed in on Lascorz. Lavaux increased the pace to catch Borgetto. The pass took place in the 6th lap. Lavaux secured the victory with the fastest time, despite Borgetto coming back in the last metres after the leader had lost time by overtaking a backmarker. Vaché finished 3rd and Nicolle 4th, having managed to pass the very combative Lascorz.

Lavaux finished in the lead of the heats in front of Borgetto, but Lascorz kept the 3rd position in front of Nicolle and Vaché.
