Europe: Camara takes OK pole at Aunay

The 62 drivers at Aunay-les-Bois for the 2nd round of the European OK Championship were able to compete in similar conditions under slightly cloudy skies, as the track stayed dry during the four sessions on the programme.

Joe Turney (Tony Kart/Vortex) set the fastest time of Session 1 with Arvid Lindblad (KR/Iame), then Luigi Coluccio (Kosmic/Vortex) joined the fight along with Rafael Camara (KR/Iame). The Brazilian set the fastest lap with 46’200, a tenth ahead of Lindblad. Timoteusz Kucharczyk (RK/TM) took 3rd place against Marlon Hernandez (KR/Iame) and Coluccio. Arthur Rogeon (Tony Kart/Vortex) finished 7th, just behind Turney.

The last lap of the second session proved decisive for Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame) – 46”208 – and Nikola Tsolov (KR/Iame) 0,129” further back. In 3rd, Juho Valtanen (KR/TM) was just ahead of Ugo Ugochukwu (KR/Iame), 2,5 tenths off the leader. Bruno Del Pino (Tony Kart/Vortex) took 5th place ahead of Brando Badoer (KR/Iame), Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM). Florian Rousseau Ricci (KR/Iame) finished 12th and James Wharton (Parolin/TM) 15th.

Artem Sevriukhin (Tony Kart/Vortex) – 46”286 – was the fastest in the third session by 17 thousandths against Martinius Stenshorne (Birel ART/TM). Andrey Zhinov (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 3rd by 0.138” while Rasmus Joutsimies (CRG/Iame) was 4th by more than 3 tenths with Nikolas Pirttilahti (Exprit/TM) 5th. Ariel Elkin (KR/Iame) was 9th and Alfio Spina (Parolin/TM) 10th.

Evan Giltaire (KR/Iame) and Hugo Besson (KR/Iame) made their presence felt in the fourth session. Giltaire set the fastest time with 46”434, Yannick De Brabander (Praga/Iame) followed him by 6 hundredths and Besson took 3rd place by 89 thousandths. Ivan Domingues (KR/Iame) and Caspian Hagman (Tony Kart/Vortex) completed the top five about a tenth back. Maxime Léger (Kosmic/Vortex) finished 0.832” behind, an achievement for a disabled driver.
